Raid de Himalaya marks the pinnacle of Mobil’s three-rally association with
Maruti Suzuki through 2016
Come October and the Himalayas will resound to the thunder of revved engines, as Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL)’s hallmark adventure motorsport event – Raid de Himalaya begins. In its endeavour to take Indian motorsports to a whole new league, ExxonMobil Lubricants Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned affiliate of ExxonMobil Corporation, reaffirmed its partnership with MSIL earlier this year, across all three of the latter’s 2016 adventure motorsports events – Desert Storm, Dakshin Dare and Raid de Himalaya.
On the partnership, Mr Rupinder Paintal, General Manager, OEM Business, ExxonMobil Lubricants Pvt. Ltd, said, “Over the decades, Mobil has been committed to performance and leadership in technology. It is this legacy as a product technology leader that enables us to work side-by-side with leading OEMs around the world. Partnering with Maruti Suzuki Motorsport – three years in a row – has been an affirmation of this shared commitment to excellence. Extending the relationship for another season, was a natural choice for both.”
The crown jewel of this year’s partnership is the 18th edition of Raid de Himalaya that commences on October 8, 2016 in the rugged terrain and icy chill of Manali and concludes on October 15, 2016 – again in Manali. Mobil 1 is the official lubricant partner for this rally – after Desert Storm and Dakshin Dare.
The rally winds through approximately 3,000 km of rocky, serpentine roads, and participants often face temperatures as low as -100 C! At some points, cars negotiate sharp bends at altitudes touching 6,000 metres above sea level. It is for good reason therefore that Raid de Himalaya is rated amongst the top 10 toughest rallies in the world and given its international standards, sees participation from the world over.
Raid’s gruelling conditions are known to test the endurance of both man and machine as teams steer through some of the world’s highest and toughest motorable roads passing through Manali, Kaza, Sarchu, and Leh in Himachal Pradesh. With Mobil 1 under the hood, drivers competing at Raid De Himalaya can rely on the world’s leading synthetic engine oil to deliver exceptional engine performance and protection – even under such extreme conditions.
This is also why automotive technicians, race car drivers, team owners and the world’s leading automotive manufacturers can all testify to the advanced technology delivered by
On Mobil’s commitment to motorsports, Mr Paintal said, “Mobil has always been synonymous with engine protection and performance, and has partnered leading automakers and award-winning race teams across the world – motorsports excites us as much as any enthusiast.”
Mobil-branded engine oils enjoy a long legacy with many of the world’s most popular and successful race teams and contribute to the growth of motorsports initiatives across the world, especially with Mobil 1’s association with some of the toughest races in the most extreme of conditions.
Mobil’s foray into motorsports dates back to 1978 with a sponsorship of the Williams Formula 1 team. The brand’s 38 years in supporting Grand Prix racing has seen it partner three multi-race and championship teams. Mobil is also the Official Motor Oil of NASCAR, the Official Motor Oil of Formula Drift and the Official Motor Oil of the Sports Car Club of America.
Today, ExxonMobil continues to invest in research and new technological advances to improve its range of oils and lubricants that contribute to better performance on the track and the road.
