Sona BLW expands its Hungary Manufacturing Facility Will augment production by 40%

Polgár, Hungary, June 02, 2017: In a significant step towards expansion, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited (SBPFL), part of the USD 500-million multinational Sona Group, is augmenting their operations in Hungary. Besides this facility in Hungary, Sona BLW is present across two more locations globally – India (3 facilities) and Germany (3 facilities). The expanded facility is being re-inaugurated today in Hungary by Chief Guest Dr Szabo Iaszlo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Germany; Mrs Rani Kapur, Chairperson, SBPFL; and Mr Sunjay Kapur, CEO, Sona Group in the presence of several notable dignitaries like Mr Balazs Rakossy, Minister of Economic Development, Mr Toth Jozsef, Mayor of Polgár and Mr Adam Szekely, CEO, Inforgroup.

The Hungary facility is the first Greenfield manufacturing unit of Sona Group, outside India, which is spread over 4800 square meters. The Hungary manufacturing facility is a downstream process unit which will increase the production capacity by 40% through machining and heat treatment areas. The expansion of this facility will lead to reduction in cost by offsetting through cheaper labour costs and will be creating jobs for about 150 people. The boost in production capacity of the manufacturing unit will result in total capacity of 3.9 million pieces per year with a targeted annual sale of 1.5 billion Hungarian, Forint.

He further added “In three years, we plan to double our production capacity at the Hungary manufacturing facility to 7.8 million pieces per year.”
