Amara Raja Skill Development Centre holds its Third Convocation

83 Rural youth Skilled and awarded Certifications and all of them have been employed

450 students skilled and got employed in past 2 years from the Centre

Tirupati, 12th September, 2017: Taking forward its commitment towards skill development in the rural areas, Amara Raja Skill Development Centre held its third convocation with successful completion of “Multi Skill Technician” Course by 83 students.

The batch of 83 rural youth of both boys and girls received the certificates at the ceremony held in presence of the Amara Raja Group Founder and Chairman – Dr Ramachandra N Galla, Jaikrishna B, President and Group HR, Viswanathan. M, Dean of the Centre, Management team members and the distinguished Guest of Honour Mr. Arun Alagappan, Executive Director of Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Ltd. Parents of the passed out students, representatives from the surrounding villages and employees from the Amara Raja Companies also attended the convocation ceremony.

During the convocation, Dr Ramachandra N Galla, said, “We would like to congratulate the students of the graduating batch. The Skill India initiative of the Government of India is an ambitious program to connect government bodies, academia and industry and enable a roadmap for the development of the Nation. The Skill development Centre of Amara Raja is a unique program aimed at providing technical and life skills to the rural youth. The training aims to help youth in the community acquire and enrich their technical skills so as to facilitate their role in society and helping them earn their livelihood through employment.”

Speaking on the Occasion, Guest of Honour, Mr. Arun Alagappan said “Amara Raja Group has been contributing both to the future of the Indian youth through their skill development centre and by doing this inspiring talent in the local communities.” While delivering his speech, Mr. Alagappan also lauded the efforts of the faculty and staff of the Centre in enhancing employability of the rural youth

Amara Raja Skill Development Centre was started in 2014 with an endeavour to improve the quality of life of rural youth by providing skill training. The facility was started by the Amara Raja Group with an investment of around 30 crores at Pettamitta, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. This centre has been established by the Rajanna Trust which is run under the aegis of Amara Raja Group.

The program focuses not only to impart technical skills, but also lays its emphasis on making them better team players, good and disciplined citizens. To fulfill this aim, the program focuses  in sports activities like football, volleyball, basketball, chess, yoga and various physical and mental capability building building exercises. The course was designed taking into consideration the background, qualifications of the rural youth and the requirements of the Industry and hence offers an 18 months course, free of cost.

The Amara Raja Group is planning to establish its next Skill Development Centre at Diguvamagham, and also another in Guntur – both in Andhra Pradesh. Moving forward in line with the Government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, the Amara Raja Group is committed to developing skilled resources that would contribute to the development of the Country and, in turn, give the rural youth an opportunity to channelize their talent.
