“Even more performance coupled with outstanding efficiency – that is what is behind the new “performance” model designation at Audi. The Audi RS 7 Performance further hones the brand’s sporty profile and makes it even more desirable, demonstrating our philosophy of ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’. Its 4.0 TFSI engine with 605 hp and up to 750 Nm of torque push acceleration nearly to levels usually reserved for supercars. With its design aesthetics and cutting edge technology, it surely knows how to impress when it comes to exhilaration, with the additional torque on demand ensuring a breathtaking driving experience, “said Mr. Thierry Lespiaucq, Managing Director, Volkswagen Group Sales India Private Limited.

Engine
The new Audi RS 7 Performance is equipped with the most powerful version of the free-revving V8 biturbo power unit with a displacement of 3,993 cc. Power output has been increased by 33 kW (45 hp) to 445 kW (605 hp), which is available between 6,100 and 6,800 rpm. The maximum rpm has thus also been increased by 200 revs. A constant 700 Nm of torque is available between 1,750 and 6,000 rpm. A particular highlight of the engine is an overboost function allowing the driver to temporarily draw on up to 750 Nm between 2,500 and 5,500 rpm. Overboost is activated automatically under full load if the engine/transmission setting is set to “dynamic” mode. The boost pressure indicator in the RS menu turns red when overboost is active. The road performance of the new Audi RS 7 Performance speaks for itself: it sprints like a supercar from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, an improvement of 0.2 seconds over the respective base model. Top speed with the optional dynamic package is 280 km/h and 305 km/h with the dynamic package plus.

The new top-of-the-line model consumes just 9.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. These top figures for power and efficiency are made possible by the technological expertise of Audi and quattro GmbH. Engineering skills and long years of experience with RS high-performance models went into further optimizing the 4.0 TFSI, from the specific engine management system with increased rpm and boost pressure to the Audi cylinder on demand (COD) system, which only activates four of the eight cylinders when under part load.

Drivetrain
The standard eight-speed tiptronic transmission has been designed for extreme sportiness in the new Audi RS 7 Performance. The driver can choose between the modes D and S or change gears manually either by tapping the selector lever or by using the shift paddles on the RS multifunction sport leather steering wheel. In manual mode, a shift indicator in the driver information system or the standard headup display indicates the rev limit.

quattro permanent all-wheel drive delivers the power to the road and flexibly distributes torque as needed via the center differential. In the standard configuration, 40 percent flows to the front axle and 60 percent to the rear axle. The wheelselective torque control intervenes as necessary. Audi also equips the quattro drivetrain with an optional sport differential on the rear axle with active torque distribution between the inside and outside wheel.

Chassis
With its dynamic setup, the standard RS adaptive air suspension lowers the body of the new Audi RS 7 performance by 20 millimeters. The integrated damping control varies as a function of the road conditions, driving style and the mode chosen in Audi drive select. Audi offers the tauter RS sport suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) as an alternative. Dynamic steering with a continuously variable steering ratio is available as standard on the car for more accurate driving dynamics.

The driver can adjust the function of key components using Audi drive select, including the steering, engine and sound management, the tiptronic and the optional sport differential. New in the performance model: Similar to the new Audi R8 highperformance sports car, the driver can switch between the modes auto, comfort, dynamic and individual without taking his or her eyes off the road using a special button on the RS multifunction sport leather steering wheel. The four internally ventilated brake disks have a weight-saving wave design; as an option, Audi offers carbon fiber-ceramic disks. Electronic Stabilization Control (ESC) has a Sport mode and can be deactivated if need be.

Striking Exterior
The new Audi RS 7 Performance is fascination at first sight. The long engine hood, the 2.92 meter wheelbase and the short overhangs create a sculpture with powerfully harmonious proportions. With its low, flowing roof line, the 5.01 meter Audi RS 7 Performance is striking from any angle.

Striking design details reinforce the preeminent position of the new RS performance model. These include the sportily designed bumpers with large air inlets up front and the heavily profiled diffuser insert at the rear, the gloss black honeycomb grille typical of the RS models and the flared side sills. The new Audi RS 7 performance specific exterior is distinguished by a quattro logo on the air inlet duct and add-on parts in matt titanium look.

The sharply sloping, truncated rear end sports a distinctive spoiler lip, a classic sports car feature. Two optional styling packages – matt aluminum and carbon – further customize the appearance. Exclusively available on the new Audi RS 7 Performance is the Matt Titanium styling package with inlet funnels. Thanks to Audi’s lightweight construction technology, the new Audi RS 7 Performance sets new standards with its low weight. A hybrid aluminum design, it weighs roughly 15 percent less than a comparable all-steel body. More than 20 percent of the body is made of aluminum.

The new Audi RS7 Performance comes equipped with the Audi Matrix LED headlamps. The LED headlamp cluster dynamically alters the high beam on a real time basis with the sole aim of not dazzling the oncoming traffic and the vehicle(s) in the front. The new Audi RS7 Performance also includes integrated dynamic turn signals on the front and the rear, as well as new tail lights interior design.

The new Audi RS 7 Performance comes standard with 20-inch forged aluminum wheels in seven twin-spoke design. Three different 21-inch wheel designs are available as options. The internally vented brake discs feature a wave design for a weight saving of nearly three kilograms.

The front discs measure 390 millimeters in diameter and are gripped by six-piston calipers.

Fully equipped Interior and Equipment
The elegant dynamics of the exterior design carry over to the interior of the new Audi RS 7 Performance. The salient element is the “wrap-around” – an arched, horizontal line below the windshield. The cockpit is tailored to the driver, with the center console oriented in the driver’s direction. The interior gets changes to its instrument cluster, air outlet controls, shift paddles, quattro emblem, and the MMI infotainment system that now comes with an Nvidia graphics processor.

The dial instruments feature black faces, white dials and red needles. RS logos and screens adorn the key, the flat-bottomed, three-spoke, multifunction steering wheel, the illuminated entry sills, the tachometer, the large driver information system display and the power-retractable monitor of the MMI navigation plus system. The selector lever features a knob covered in perforated leather with an RS badge, and the shift paddles have an aluminum-look finish. Additional highlights are provided by trim elements with aluminum and piano look finishes as well as carbon inlays.

RS sport seats with pronounced side bolsters and integrated head restraints are standard. They are covered in particularly high-grade, honeycomb-quilted Valcona leather in either black or lunar silver as standard.

Audi offers optional power-adjustable comfort seats with memory function. The two rear seats are sportily contoured. Luggage capacity ranges from 535 to 1,390 liters depending on the position of the rear seat backs.

In addition to the existing colors New Audi RS 7 Performance will also have an exclusive color- Ascari Blue. Audi also provides a host of customization options through Audi exclusive.

Standard equipment in the new Audi RS 7 Performance also includes four-zone automatic air conditioning, MMI navigation plus with touchpad control (MMI touch), Heads-up display, Bose surround system, Independent Sports Air Suspension and RS Sports exhaust system. Optional high-end features range from a Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System, quattro with Sports Differential, Dynamic Ride Control, Ceramic Disk Brakes, Dynamic Package Plus and an array of customization options from Audi Exclusive to name a few.
