Nissan inaugurates new dealership in Shillong, Meghalaya

  • Nissan increases pan-India network to 219 outlets across 166 cities
  • Nissan now has 14 outlets in the North Eastern region
  • 12 dealerships have been launched in the last six months
  • The new outlet will showcase both Nissan and Datsun brands

The Nissan Group of India inaugurated a new dealership, Orange Nissan, in Shillong, Meghalaya today. The newly-opened showroom is the first Nissan dealership in the state. Nissan now has a nationwide network of 219 outlets across 166 cities. The state-of-the-art Orange Nissan showroom is 3240 sq. ft., ample space to display up to five cars. It is located in Lumsohphoh, which is in the heart of the city. The service centre is situated at Shillong, Jowai Road.

Establishing an extensive, quality-focused retail network is central to Nissan’s long-term growth in India. The company plans to have 300 sales and service centres across the country by the end of March 2017. As part of its network expansion strategy, Nissan India plans to increase its dealership network in the North Eastern state to capture huge potential of these territory.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new dealership, Arun Malhotra, managing director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, “The automobile market in the North East region of India has increased exponentially over the last few years. Nissan will be expanding aggressively in the northeast to reach customers there and gain a healthy share of this huge potential market.

“We are also gearing up to launch our new Datsun redi-GO, which will compete in the entry-level car segment in India. There is significant demand in the northeast for cars in this segment. To tap that desire for our cars, we will grow our dealership base, offer best-in-class products, build strong business fundamentals, and get closer to our customers in the region. Nissan is continuing to expand its dealership footprint and remains on course to meet our target of establishing 300 dealerships across the country by the end of March 2017,” Malhotra added.

With the projected 300 dealerships Nissan will be able cover up to 90 percent of current and prospective customers and provide them with easy and immediate access to sales and aftersales service centres. Nissan has focused on improving the customer experience when they visit dealers. The result is that the brand was ranked third in a recent 2015 J.D. Power Asia Pacific – India Sales Satisfaction Index study.
