Mahindra & Mahindra celebrates National Road Safety Week 2016

Over 400 dealer workshops across the country participates in this initiative

Mumbai, January 8, 2016: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), India’s leading SUV manufacturer, celebrates ‘National Road Safety Week’ in association with SIAM-SAFE and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), across the country from 10th January 2016 to 16th January 2016. The theme for National Road Safety Week 2016 is – Road Safety: Time for Action. Mahindra’s participation in this initiative is to create awareness about road safety.

With increasing incidents of road rage, accidents, unsafe driving practices, it is imperative to educate people on road safety. In fact Road Safety is expected to improve dramatically when every component of the road system including the vehicle, road infrastructure, traffic engineering, driver training & road etiquette, enforcement, education and awareness, as well as the laws that govern the road system, have safety as an inherent virtue.

Under the aegis of the National Road Safety Week, M&M has undertaken various activities through its vast network of dealership workshops pan India such as, road safety awareness for dealer staff, drivers’ education program, creating awareness amongst school children through video presentation on “Safety Technology in Automobiles” and organizing drawing competition for children at schools and dealership workshops. In addition M&M is also creating awareness drives through rallies by school children and tie ups with local traffic police and local RTO.

Commenting on the National Road Safety Week, Mr. Sandeep Dhond, Vice President – Customer Care, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd. said, “As responsible corporate citizens, we at Mahindra are committed towards making India’s roads safer. Today, most accidents are caused due to driver’s negligence and improper road etiquettes. Hence it is our endeavor to educate people about road safety. And through various activities at multiple touch points, we are trying to educate the drivers of today and the generation of tomorrow, thereby helping them to imbibe values of road safety from a young age.”

The Road Safety campaign will see participation from over 400 Mahindra dealer workshops from across the country who will be engaged at various levels to make it a success.
