GM India Vice President of Marketing and Customer Experience Jack Uppal added, “The Trailblazer will enable our customers to own a true global SUV. True to its name, the Trailblazer with lay the path for nine new Chevrolet vehicles being launched in India over the next five years.”

The Trailblazer offers a host of unique features, including first-in-segment projector headlamps, ceiling-mounted rear air-conditioning controls with four vents for the second- and third-row seats, a six-speed automatic transmission, a 7-inch touchscreen, the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system and Siri Eyes Free for Apple users.

The 2016 Chevrolet Trailblazer, imported from Thailand, will be available for bookings on Amazon.in only from October 21-25, at a reservation deposit of Rs. 25,000/-. Customers will receive their SUVs from their local Chevrolet dealership. Bookings can also be made through Chevrolet dealerships.

Big, Bold and Muscular Exterior

The Chevrolet Trailblazer measures 4,878 mm in length, 2132 mm in width and 1,851 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,845 mm, making it the largest SUV in its class. Best-in-class ground clearance of 253 mm coupled with a great riding position make it a true SUV.

The Trailblazer’s exterior highlights include a “body in-wheels out” design that delivers high approach and departure angles. A dramatic power dome in the hood combined with a raised cowl gives the Trailblazer a strong, purposeful appearance. Also prominent is the contemporary dual-port grille – an unmistakable Chevrolet cue – that carries a three-dimensional grille mesh. The grille is in an upright position, conveying a sense of confidence and power.

Higher-mounted dual projector headlamps positioned beneath the power dome along with 18-inch alloy wheels emphasize the visual strength in the face of the vehicle. First-in-class projector fog lamps provide great visibility at night and in extreme weather conditions.

Horizontal LED tail lamps on both the lift gate and the rear quarter surfaces provide depth and detail. A more “squared off” rear window adds presence and volume to the upper rear portion of the vehicle silhouette. Integrated running boards aid entry and exit from the vehicle while enhancing protection from road debris. Power-adjustable outside mirrors and a rear vision camera along with rear park assist add to the convenience.

The Trailblazer will initially be available in three exterior colors: Summit White, Black Sapphire and Switchblade Silver.

Luxurious and Comfortable Premium Interior

Signature Chevrolet cues continue inside, conveying spaciousness, flexibility and sophistication. The seven-passenger Trailblazer features intuitive three-row tumble and fold-flat seating. With a flowing instrument panel, integrated center stack and signature Chevrolet dual cockpit design, the interior combines car-like characteristics with the boldness expected of a true SUV.

The dual-tone interior with premium dual-tone Athos Beige and Charcoal Black wraparound theme with leather bucket seats matches the flowing lines visible in the instrument panel. A dynamic, dual-gauge instrument cluster combined with LED Ice Blue illumination with contrasting white digits and points creates a sophisticated appearance.

Additional interior details include second-row 60/40 split seats with single latch forward gravity tumble, fold-flat capability, and six-degree seat-back reclining with integrated folding armrests incorporated with cup holders. Third-row 50/50 split seats with center console storage provide fold-flat capability and flat floor storage from the front row rearward when all seats are folded to provide extreme load capability.

The vehicle also has 32 storage compartments located throughout the interior, including a covered center bin for the concealment of valuable items and a large dual glove box.

The All New Chevrolet Trailblazer introduces the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system in India. It features a 7-inch color touchscreen with a premium six-speaker system along with Bluetooth hands-free calling functions and music streaming apart from the Aux-in and USB functions.

Once connected, options such as Audio, Pictures and Movies, Telephone, Smartphone Link and Settings are projected onto the Trailblazer’s touchscreen. Users can access personal playlists and make hands-free calls, amongst other functions. Equipped with six speakers, the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system doubles up as a reverse parking camera in combination with rear park assist, giving a crystal-clear view while enabling safe parking in tight spots. The infotainment system also comes with Siri Eyes Free for Apple users, allowing users to play music, receive messages, read and write important messages, and make calls from their phonebook.

Rear air-conditioning controls are located in the ceiling and include four vents for the second- and third-row seats.

Most Powerful and Torquey in Its Class

Powering the Trailblazer is the proven second-generation Duramax four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. The 2.8L variant provides 200 PS (147kW) at 3,600 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm, making the Trailblazer the most powerful and torquey member of its class. It also offers outstanding efficiency and refinement. The 2.8L variant is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission, which delivers an optimal balance of power, performance and fuel economy.

The engine supports the Trailblazer’s powerful acceleration and straight-line performance, as well as the vehicle’s towing and payload capacity.

The Duramax engine operates on the common-rail system, which is capable of up to 2,000 bar. This increases combustion efficiency, which translates to better performance, while reducing CO2 emissions and improving fuel consumption. The rear-wheel-drive Trailblazer provides fuel economy of 11.45 kilometers per litre as per CMVR Rule 115.

To extend the life of the engine and variable-geometry turbocharger, the 2.8L variant has added water cooling to its turbocharger and turbine housing, reducing operational heat – especially at high speeds.

Safety and Stability

Safety features in the Trailblazer include dual air bags, electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), cornering brake control (CBC), hill start assist (HSA), hill descent control (HDC), traction control system (TCS), panic brake assist (PBA) and hydraulic brake assist (HBA).

Its robust body-on-frame architecture with the support of a five-link rear suspension lends it a combination of best-in-class luxurious ride and responsiveness. The use of coil springs throughout also provides the Trailblazer with better suspension articulation, a useful trait in off-road conditions, in addition to providing passenger car-like handling dynamics on the road.

In brief, the Trailblazer has ride and handling dynamics that match – and in many cases exceed – those of upper-segment vehicles. It caters to a wide range of driving styles and requirements with car-like response and premium ride quality while offering the off-road capability that some customers demand.
